What is a Steam Bath?

Steam baths first became popular with the Ancient Greeks. In time, it has been adopted by the Romans. They actually called it Sudatorium which is a part of the Roman baths. Steam bath has also reached Turkey and there, they called it Hamam. As centuries pass, it was called as the Turkish bath.

The practice of steam bath has also reached Russia where it was called as Banja. Unlike the old times steam baths today have an advanced technology which made it possible for anyone to install it anywhere at minimal cost. Efficient and controlled steam baths are now found in private homes, spas, fitness centers and meditation rooms.

What is a Steam Bath?

Steam bath relaxes and renews your energy while promoting beauty and health. Steam bath units can be operated at temperatures between 110F and 116F and above 100% humidity. Steam in a steam room should be present and should require a steam generator. A control system is also needed and an enclosed steam room to keep the steam from escaping. Steam bath is actually good for everyone especially people who have heart problems. Proper steam room temperatures should be observed too.

Steam baths are healthy and enjoyable as well. It has a good effect on the skin and is mostly enjoyed by women. The heat stimulates the blood flow and cleanses the skin thoroughly. It opens the pores and removes dead skin leaving it soft, silky and smooth.

A steam bath is also good for people who suffer from painful movements of the joints, expectoration, coughs, hoarseness, asthma and bronchitis. In addition to this, steam bath is also beneficial if you are having sleeping disorders, chapped or dry skin, muscular tension and a lot more.

Before taking a Steam Shower, take a shower first. Do not exceed 15 to 20 minutes. Cool off after a session. If the heat is too much you may experience vertigo, dizziness, rapid heartbeat or excessive thirst. That is why it is important that the heat in a steam shower is controlled. Do not in take large meals before the session and drink a lot of water to prevent dehydration.
